Norifumi Abe-125ccm biography Norick Abe made Minibike race debut at age 13. In 1991, Abe contested dirt track and motocross races in USA, as well as 3 races in regional 125cc road race championship in Japan. Norifumi Abe-250ccm biography Norick Abe raced only one season in 250ccm category, and finished 2nd in Japan national 250ccm championship in 1992. Norifumi Abe-500ccm biography Norick Abe moved to 500ccm class in 1993, and in his debut season became champion of All Japan Championships 500cc class. This great success allowed him to make debut in World 500ccm Championship rounds 11 and 12 in 1994,where he took two sixth places. Year 1995 was his first full season in 500ccm class, and Abe finished this season as 9th overall. In 1996 Norick Abe got his first victory in premiere class, riding for team Roberts, finishing season 5th in general standings. In following seasons, he had full season ride in Yamaha, and made some average results: Norifumi Abe-MotoGP biography Abe raced for Yamaha in 500ccm/MotoGP world championship until the 2003, when he became official test rider in charge for M1 development. In 2003, Abe contested 3 MotoGP races as substitution for injured Melandri and 2 as wildcard rider, and again got full season ride in 2004 after Barros moved to Honda.
