Norick Abe moved to 500ccm class in 1993, and in his debut season became champion of All Japan Championships 500cc class. This great success allowed him to make debut in World 500ccm Championship rounds 11 and 12 in 1994,where he took two sixth places. Year 1995 was his first full season in 500ccm class, and Abe finished this season as 9th overall. In 1996 Norick Abe got his first victory in premiere class, riding for team Roberts, finishing season 5th in general standings. In following seasons, he had full season ride in Yamaha, and made some average results:
