Be first to comment this story
Reigning Superbike World Champion, Troy Bayliss, took victory in race one at Misano circuit in Italy, after race-long battle with Noriyuki Haga. Bayliss was initial race leader, before Haga get in front. Bayliss then returned into the lead in lap 20, just two laps before Max Biaggi crashed into Haga and took him out of the race.
It was leading quartet of Bayliss, Haga, Corser and Biaggi which made clean gap to lonely James Toseland in 5th. Bayliss and Haga were in constant fight for race lead, with Corser and Biaggi looking also able to mix in that fight. However, in second part of the race, Corser started was slightly of the pace, and that was chance for Biaggi to get in 3rd place, which he took. However, Biaggi became too optimistic, as he tried to dive inside Haga in one of fast corners, they touched and both crashed.
For sure, this was great blow in the face for Haga, who looked strong this season, and was really picking ground to Toseland race by race, with great chances to continue same way in this way in this race. He will definetelly have few things to say to Biaggi after the race.
Troy Corser took that present in form of second place from Biaggi and Haga, with another long unseen face on the podium - Yukio Kagayama, who took 16 points to Suzuki camp after disaster set by Biaggi. James Toseland ended race in 4th place, picking valuable points, now 36 points in front of Bayliss and Haga in joined 2nd place.
