Ruben Xaus wins race 1 in ValenciaRuben Xaus brought two surprises today in Superbike race 1 in Valencia. First and bigger one was - he finished race. Second was not so big - Xaus actually won the race. Joking aside, Ruben Xaus rode brilliant race to win in front of his home crowd, storming through the field after average start and picking rider by rider, eventually winning the race. Second was Noriyuki Haga, who was only rider able to keep pace with Xaus, at least for most of the race.

Reigning Superbike champion, Troy Bayliss, get in front of other riders after great start, but soon he was overtaken by countryman, Troy Corser, who was leader of the first part of the race. Bayliss, still riding injuried, obviously had problems to keep high rhythm throught the race, specially while trying to overtake Haga in second part of the race. At the end, he settled in 3rd place, snatching 5 points from championship leader, James Toseland.

Noriyuki Haga was right on the tail of Ruben Xaus through most of the race, but Japanese rider was unable to edge Xaus, who rode this race without mistake. Troy Corser, after leading opening stages of the race, started loosing places and eventually finished race in 4th place. Australian seemed to have problems with his bike in certain stage of the race, which we may see from his gesticulation.

Championship leader, Briton James Toseland, today did not show agression and determination we saw in previous races. He finished lonely race in 5th place, never being able to join leading group, but still on safe distance from riders behind.

Lorenzo Lanzi managed to win great battle for 6th place, which belong for most of the race to the James Brookes, who eventually finished in 9th place. Michael Fabrizio edged Biaggi for 7th place, who show worst performance of the season today in Valencia. Roberto Rolfo completed top 10 in Superbike race 1 in Valencia.
