2007-05-13 WSBK: Noriyuki Haga wins race 1 in Monza

Noriyuki Haga won race 1 in Monza, recovering from bad start and winning mid-race duel with James Toseland. Troy Bayliss took second place in Superbike race 1 today, profiting from problems of Ten Kate Honda duo of James Toseland and Roberto Rolfo. Max Biaggi completed podium on his home soil.
Max Biaggi had unexpectedly good start, leading race into first corner, but soon he started dropping back, settling in 5th place. It was championship leader, James Toseland, who took initial lead, followed by team-mate Rolfo. Yukio Kagayama was also in the front shortly, but soon he started loosing places.
However, man of the race was Haga, who made his way from the back and after few laps started battle for first place with Toseland. It was close battle for most of the race, before Toseland got into tyre troubles and started dropping back like a stone, finishing race in not so distant 4th, considering shape of his tyre. Similar problems few laps latter appered with Honda of his team-mate Rolfo, who was right behing, and he even did not finished race.
Max Biaggi managed to grab 3rd place in last lap, despite running of the track in lap 14 when his front wheel blocked. Toseland was 4th, Corser ended race in 5th after showing glimpse of promise in opening laps. Kagayama was 6th after initial charge, with Lorenzo Lanzi 7th. Fabrizio, Muggeridge and Neukirchner completed top 10 finishers in Superbike race 1 in Monza.
