2007-08-31 Washout interrupts first day of Misano practice

 First day of eagerly anticipated Misano MotoGP was turned out into a washout, allowing riders to have only one free practice session, instead of planned three. Fastest man of first free practice, which took place in wet conditions, was Italian Marco Melandri, who seems sufficiently recovered from neck injuries, which prevented him to ride in Brno. Valentino Rossi was second fastest today, 1.7 seconds behind Melandri. Casey Stoner was right behind Rossi in first free practice, despite crashing.
Loris Capirossi was behind team-mate Stoner in 4th, with Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden in 5th and 6th. Newly signed 2008 LCR Honda rider, Randy de Puniet, set 7th time. John Hopkins was 8th, in front of new team-mate for 2008. - Anthony West, who also had small crash. Alex Barros completed top 10 fastest riders in free practice today.
Due to problems with weather today, Saturday schedule is revised. MotoGP Free practice will take place from 9 to 11 AM, while one-hour MotoGP qualifying session will take place from 13:50 to 14:50. All forecasts are promissing better weather conditions for next two days.
