Qatar podium finishers: Rossi,Melandri and HaydenValentino Rossi today broke string of victories of Loris Capirossi by winning in Doha on Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar. Rossi had to race hard to earn 10th victory of the season, since he had close battle with Marco Melandri, who succesfully recovered from injuries sustained in Motegi and seems to be recovering his great form from first part of championship.

In early stages of the race, man we all expected to see in front, Loris Capirossi, was close to leading group, but in lap 8 he made mistake which redelegated him to 12th place from 6th, and then was obvius that 3rd win of the season for Capirossi is not possible. Capirossi eventually finished race in 10th place.

Meanwhile, Sete Gibernau semed to be in form again, as he lead most of the race in front of the Rossi and Melandri, duo of Italians which had close battle. Melandri attacked Gibernau 4 laps before end of the race and took lead from him, causing Gibernau to respond in a wrong way, finishing in gravel trap and returning to race in 5th place. One lap before end of the race, Rossi overtook Melandri and keept lead until the end.

Melandri's second place helped him to move to 3rd in the championship, just 2 points behind Biaggi who did not finish this race due to the electrical problem in his Honda RC211V.  Nicky Hayden rode steadily through the race, eventually finishing in 3rd, in front of Colin Edwards.

Gibernau had to settle with 5th place, more than 10 seconds in front of Checa and Shinya Nakano. Rookie Toni Elias managed to stay in front of the experienced Barros and finish in 8th. Loris Capirossi completed top 10 race finishers.
