2007-04-29 Toseland wins Superbike race 1 in Assen

James Toseland took victory in Superbike race 1 in Assen today, continuing strike of victories on every track this season. Although he lost first place few times during the race, Toseland controlled today's race 1 and took deserved victory. Second was Japanese rider Noriyuki Haga, who made great break-through from 15th place on the grid. Ruben Xaus took last podium place in another impressive race where he was challenging for victory.
Toseland had great start from pole position, followed in first corner by Max Biaggi, who soon started fading and eventually finished race in 6th place, far behind race winner. Most of the race we had 6 riders in leading pack - Toseland, Haga, Xaus, Bayliss, Corser and Lanzi.
Troy Bayliss seemed like man on the mission at the middle of the race, as he was all ower the Toseland, but soon he got into tyre troubles and started loosing places, eventually finishing race in 4th place. Ruben Xaus also looked strong during the race, at some point also getting into the lead, but this time he had to settle for 3rd place, which is great result considering unstable performance we saw from Spanish rider so many times.
Nitro-Nori shown great ride today, making his way from 15th on the grid to second place. It seems that taking first place in race for Haga is not a problem, but setting his own pace and leading race seems to be quite difficult for Japanese rider, as he once again finished in second place.
Corser looked strong during the race, and when it seemed as he can get onto podium, he crashed on penultimate lap of the race. Lorenzo Lanzi shown solid performance today, finishing race one place behind team-mate Bayliss, in 5th place.
Pair of Suzukis of Biaggi and Kagayama finished race in 6th and 7th, in front of Kawasaki rider Nieto. Rolfo and Neukirchner completed top 10 finishers in Superbike race 1 in Assen today.
