Rizla Suzuki MotoGP racers Chris Vermeulen and John Hopkins both improved on their lap times during the second day of the latest test in Australia. Vermeulen knocked almost a second off his first day’s time to record a fastest lap of 1’31.10. He tested Bridgestone race tyres and refined chassis settings on his new Rizla Suzuki GSV-R800 during his 75 laps.
Team-mate Hopkins completed a comprehensive test of his new bike by completing 80 laps of the 4.4km Phillip Island circuit. He concentrated on working on the consistency of the new bike rather than going for fast lap-times. The Anglo-American star also conducted a series of tyre tests during the day as he clocked up a best lap-time of 1’31.60.
The three-day test concludes tomorrow with both riders looking to improve on their lap times as they continue with the development programme of the new GSV-R.
