Casey Stoner was the first rider to take Aragon pole position, as he continued good form from previous practice sessions and transformed it to first position on the grid. Jorge Lorenzo was one third of a second behind Stoner, while Dani Pedrosa took last position in first row after failing to utilize flying lap.
Fourth placed Nicky Hayden was another Ducati on the pace in Aragon, showing that Spanish track suits Ducati. Ben Spies qualified as fifth, in front of recovering Randy de Puniet. Valentino Rossi slightly improved in qualifying session, but still lacks pace to fight with front-runners. Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Simoncelli and Hector Barbera completed top 10 qualifiers in Aragon.
