2008-07-12 Stoner smashes track record on his way to Sachsenring pole

Casey Stoner once again confirmed that he will be man to beat in Germany, as he took 4th consecutive pole position in Sachsenring today. Casey Stoner set new qualifying record in Sachsenring - 1:21.067. Dani Pedrosa was 0.353 seconds slower than Stoner, also demonstrating race-pace that guarantees podium fight. Colin Edwards was once again best Yamaha qualifier in 3rd place.
Andrea Dovizioso earned his best qualifying position of the season, heading the second row. Jorge Lorenzo took 5th place on the grid, getting on the way of his team-mate Rossi in one of his qualifying laps. Randy de Puniet took solid 6th place.
Valentino Rossi was unable to qualify better than 7th, despite having race-pace that may match one of Dani Pedrosa. Two Hondas of Nicky Hayden and Shinya Nakano will line-up tomorrow alongside Rossi. Alex de Angelis completed top 10 qualifiers in Sachsenring today.
