2007-07-20 Stoner shows intentions at Laguna Seca

 Casey Stoner once again shown his intentions to continue MotoGP domination as he set fastest time in first free practice for American Grand Prix which took place at Laguna Seca circuit today. Fastest time set by Stoner was just 0.077 seconds slower than lap record set last year by Dani Pedrosa. Marco Melandri utilized improvements on his Honda to set second fastest time, in front of Colin Edwards, who was fastest Yamaha rider today.
John Hopkins was another home rider which set respectable 4th time today, in front of early session leader, Valentino Rossi, who was 5th fastest in FP1. Chris Vermeulen set 6th fastest time in Laguna Seca today, proving that he can go fast at American circuit same as last year. Randy de Puniet was 7th quickest, in front of Nicky Hayden, who still needs to find some speed if he plans to take 3rd consecutive victory. Alex Barros was 9th quickest, in front of Kawasaki wildcard rider, Roger Lee Hayden, who impressed in first appearance aboard Ninja ZX-RR.
Somewhere around middle of the free practice, it was red-flagged as Alex Hofmann and Sylvian Guintoli were involved in incident in Corkscrew chicane, which saw Alex Hofmann out of the practice. Hofmann was taken for medical check to ambulance, with possible injury of his left wrist.
