After a weekend of domination in Great Britain, Casey Stoner today continued where he left and upset his rivals by setting fantastic times in both free practices. Stoner improved his best time from first free practice session by about half second, but even his time from FP1 was unreachable to others. Valentino Rossi ended day as closest to Stoner's time, still 0.732 seconds of his best time. Colin Edwards was another fast Yamaha rider today, 0.112 seconds behind Rossi, with Nicky Hayden being last rider within 1 from Stoner's time.
Alex De Angelis was best satellite Honda rider in 5th place today, edging team-mate Shinya Nakano for just 0.011 seconds. Randy de Puniet was right behind Gresini duo. John Hopkins set 8th time of the day on Kawasaki, while Dani Pedrosa was unable to go better than 9th. Chris Vermeulen completed top 10 fastest riders in Thursday free practice at Assen.
Loris Capirossi, who missed British Grand Prix due to hand injury, suffered terrific highside in second free practice, sustaining deep cut in his forearm. It is quite possible that this means end of weekend for Capirossi, who will be probably replaced by Ben Spies, who rode to 13th place on his first MotoGP race less than a week ago.
