2007-07-22  Stoner demolishes competition in warm-up
Be first to comment this story

Casey Stoner has no mercy for his competitors Casey Stoner continues to demolish confidence of his competitors at Laguna Seca, as he set new circuit record during 20 minutes long Warm-up session. Casey Stoner did an 13 lap short race simulation, in which he has beaten his own qualifying record 4 times, setting fastest time of 1.21.975 in last lap! Second fastest in Worm-up was Chris Vermeulen, who also constantly lapped in mid 1.22's, ready to battle for the top position in race. John Hopkins was also on the fast pace today in warm-up, as he set third time and string of 1.22 laps, trying to stay in touch with his team-mate, Vermeulen.

Valentino Rossi has finally found speed to dig under 1.23, setting four laps in the high 1.22's at the end of 10 lap sequence. Dani Pedrosa was slightly off the pace, but he also managed to set decent times, still having chance to mix into podium fight. Loris Capirossi was 6th fastest, finding some extra speed today, but still looking inconsistently (lap-time wise). Colin Edwards made sequence of 10 laps, constantly in low 1.23's. Roger Lee Hayden once again impressed by setting 8th time of the warm-up, in front of Alex Barros, who also had decent short race simulation. Randy de Puniet completed top 10 fastest rider in warm-up at Laguna Seca.

Only man not appearing on the track was Marco Melandri, sitting-out this session and trying to recover as much as possible for the race.
