2009-07-04 Rossi tops FP1, Lorenzo FP2 at Laguna Seca

 Pair of Fiat Yamaha riders, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, topped first and second free practice session at Laguna Seca. As in previous races, Ducati of Casey Stoner was close to Fiat Yamaha riders, setting fast lap times in short track outings. Rumors about some changes in teams started to travel through the paddock, so Toni Elias again found his usual pre-contract form, setting 4th place in fp2. Repsol Honda pair was in top part of timesheets in both practices again, hopping for better luck than in Assen.
