2007-06-09 Rossi grabs Catalan pole

 Valentino Rossi rode his Fiat Yamaha to pole position in Catalunya, setting new track record of 1.41.840, ten minutes before end of the session. Randy de Puniet qualified in excellent second place despite still suffering from injuries sustained in Mugello. Dani Pedrosa managed to take last position in first row for home Grand Prix, which is still good result for young Spaniard.
Casey Stoner stayed in touch with championship contenders by qualifying 4th, in front of John Hopkins. Colin Edwards set solid 6th time after Mugello disaster, in front of fellow countryman, Nicky Haydem in 7th. Toni Elias was 8th quickest today on his home soil, in front of struggling team-mate, Marco Melandri. Alex Hofmann continued to improve and powered his Ducati to 10th place on the grid.
