Valentino Rossi set fastest time of the third free practice session in Valencia in late effort. According to time analysis, it seems that Rossi and many other top riders tried qualifying tyres at the end of the session, probably in order to get psychological edge over competitors, as well as to avoid unpleasent surprises in qualifying that will take place in Valencia later today.
Nicky Hayden stayed in touch with his title rival Rossi by setting second fastest time, also probably on qualifying rubber. Loris Capirossi, who led most of the session, and set bunch of consistent and fast laps on racing tyre, ended FP3 in third place. Colin Edwards also used early-qualifier tactics in order to set 4th fastest time in FP3.
Marco Melandri was 5th fastest today, in front on excellent Troy Bayliss in 6th. Dani Pedrosa was 7th fastest, in front of Rizla Suzuki duo of John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen. Makoto Tamada completed top 10 fastest riders in FP3.
