Valentino Rossi today took his 68th victory in MotoGP class, equaling achievement of the Giacomo Agostini and took giant step towards 6th premier class victory. Main rival of Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, crashed for second consecutive time while leading race and having solid 3 second advantage over Rossi. Stoner took holeshot from pole position, and built 2 second advantage over Rossi, who had scary moment while trying to get in front of Pedrosa, who put himself between Rossi and Stoner after the start. After Rossi got in front of Pedrosa, gap to Stoner was already 3 seconds, and duo started setting fastest lap times until Stoner crashed in lap 7. Rossi managed to resist to pressure of his team-mate who found his way to second place, while Toni Elias shown that result from Brno was not coincidence by taking 3rd position.

Dani Pedrosa was unable to keep pace with podium finishers, taking 4th place. As we learned today, Pedrosa will have chance tomorrow to try Bridgestone tyres in post-race test, riding for the rest of the season with Japanese brand. Chris Vermeulen built his way towards the 5th position from 13th at the end of lap 1, once again showing great form and determination. James Toseland once again equaled his best MotoGP result by taking 6th place.

Loris Capirossi rode his 277th race and finished it in impressive 7th after starting from 11th on the grid, showing that he still has few tricks to show to young guns. Andrea Dovizioso finished race in 8th place, after spending 10 laps in his usual 5th place. Marco Melandri was 9th today, while Colin Edwards completed top 10 of 14 Misano finishers today.

After victory today, Rossi is 75 points clear of Casey Stoner, who is now only 2 points in front of Pedrosa. With 5 races remaining, Rossi seems on the way towards 6th title, while Stoner has to try to find consistency that he demonstrated last year.
