2009-06-15 Rossi and Lorenzo returning action to MotoGP

 After 43 races without last-lap overtaking, Fiat Yamaha pair of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo provided MotoGP fans much more - last corner overtaking, with previous battle that included 4 overtaking in last lap alone! Valentino Rossi was the man who won in this epic battle, revenging to Lorenzo for Italian GP defeat two weeks ago. Casey Stoner rode damage-limiting race to third place, blaming poor physical condition for his third place, giving everything he had to defend this position from Andrea Dovizioso.
Fourth place was once again reserved for Andrea Dovizioso, who lost fight for podium position to Stoner by just 0.052 seconds. This position helped Dovizioso to move up to (again) 4th place in the championship, in front of his team-mate, Dani Pedrosa. Loris Capirossi rode fantastic race, having fantastic start from 11th place and fighting his way to 5th, after long battle with Dani Pedrosa. Dani Pedrosa, riding under pain-killers, took great 6th place in Catalunya, riding in 4th at early stage of the race. Pedrosa will miss post-race test and will try to recover in following two weeks for Dutch Grand Prix.
Colin Edwards was once again best Tech 3 Yamaha in 7th place, fighting with front-end issues to finish in 7th place. Rany De Puniet continued to mature as a racer, onde again finishing race and bringing his Honda in 8th place. French rider obviously had chance to see the difference between satellite and factory bikes, as he lost many places on the straight due to lack of top-speed in his Honda. Mika Kallio finished in 9th as best non-Stoner Ducati rider, edging Nicky Hayden, who scored his best result of the season in 10th.
Best evidence about excitement of the 2009 MotoGP championship is championship table - Rossi, Lorenzo and Stoner sharing 1st place with 106 points. Maybe there is not too many riders in MotoGP field, but certainly, this year we will have plenty of excitement.
