MotoGP rookie Dani Pedrosa took pole position for GAS British Grand Prix which will take place tomorrow in Donington Park. Pedrosa set new lap record of 1:27.626, being the only man to dig under 1.28 mark. Second fastest rider in qualifying today was Suzuki rider Chris Vermeulen, with lap time almost half second slower than one set by Pedrosa. Marco Melandri earned respectable third grid position, considering that he is still not fully fit from terrific crash two weeks ago.
John Hopkins was slower than team-mate Vermeulen this time, qualifying in still respectable 4th position. Loris Capirossi qualified 5th, with Randy De Puniet completing second row in 6th place. Shinya Nakano qualified behind team-mate in 7th place, in front of Honda riders Casey Stoner and Kenny Roberts Jr.
Two Camel Yamaha riders, Edwards and Rossi, qualified as only 10th and 12th, sandwiching Nicky Hayden in 11th place. Carlos Checa qualified as 13th on Dunlop shoed Yamaha, in front of Makoto Tamada and Alex Hofmann. James Ellison, Ivan Silva and Jose Luis Cardoso are completing field in last row. Michael Fabrizio was injuried in crash during FP3 and will miss British Grand Prix.
