2007-06-08 Pedrosa sets pace on day 1 in Catalunya

 Day 1 of free practice in Catalunya saw Dani Pedrosa setting fastest time of the day in first free practice. Time set by Pedrosa was just 0.051 seconds slower than fastest lap set by Nicky Hayden last year. Dani was unable to improve his time in second free practice, in which he had crash, luckily without any injuries. Valentino Rossi was right behid Pedrosa, setting his best time in second free practice, 0.214 seconds off the Pedrosa time. John Hopkins set third time of the day, once again confirming great form and great progress of Suzuki GSV-R800.
Casey Stoner was 4th fastest today, but still in touch to title competitors. Toni Elias set 5th fastest time on his home track, in front of Loris Capirossi, who set solid 6th time, considering his recent run on bad results. Chris Vermeulen continued steady progress by ending day in 7th. Colid Edwards was not so far back today in 8th place, in front of Last week's hero, Alex Barros. Carlos Checa completed top 10 fastest riders at Montmelo today, also being last rider below 1.44 bracket.
