Malaysian Grand Prix today saw terrible accident in which Marco Simoncelli tragically lost his life. Marco Simoncelli lost front end of his Gresini Honda on the second lap of the race in corner 11, and instead of sliding out of track, bike partially regained grip and dragged Simoncelli back to the racing line where he was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. Edwards and Rossi had no chance to avoid Simoncelli and hit directly Italian rider, whose helmet was ripped-off from the force of the impact. Edwards crashed and sustained shoulder dislocation, while Rossi was forced off the track without crashing.

Immediately after the incident race was red-flagged, and while everyone expected encouraging news, doctors declared Simoncelli dead after about 45 minutes of reanimation. MotoGP community was hit hard by death of rising MotoGP rider, who scored his best ever MotoGP finish just week before in Australia. Simincelli will remain in our memory as colourful and fun-lowing character off the track and fast and determined rider on the track.
