Jorge Lorenzo sweeped competition in Silverstone, as he rode race in his own class and finished far in front of his competitors. All that Lorenzo had to do in this race was to overtake Pedrosa in first lap and fade in distance, never really being threatened by anyone. Battle for the second place was something where we saw much action, finally being won by Andrea Dovizioso. Ben Spies build his way from 7th place in lap 3 to the first podium finish in his rookie season, showing potential of the future MotoGP star. Spies edged compatriot Nicky Hayden for last podium place, leaving him in another 4th place, 4th this season. Casey Stoner had terrible start which saw him ending in last position on race start, but soon he found fast pace and built his way to the 5th place and 11 points.
Randy de Puniet once again demonstrated speed and maturity, as he fought for the second place with fastest MotoGP riders for the most of the race, but finally finished in 6th place. Marco Simoncelli finished in 7th which was his best result of the season. Dani Pedrosa start loosing places after promising start and finished race in disappointing 8th place. Colin Edwards and Aleix Espargaro completed top 10 finishers in Silverstone.
Jorge Lorenzo increased his championship lead, while Andrea Dovizioso stepped up to second place in the championship, 5 points in front of his team-mate Pedrosa.
