Be first to comment this story
Both free practice sessions at Le Mans today were dominated by Honda riders, first one by Michelin shoed Dani Pedrosa, and second one by Bridgestone shoed Marco Melandri. Melandri's fastest lap was 1:35.319, which is still around 0.3 seconds slower than last year's race lap record set by Valentino Rossi. Dani Pedrosa was second quickest in FP2, with Carlos Checa making all-Honda top three in free practice today.
Colin Edwards improved in second free practice to set 4th time of the day, despite being stung few times by bee which flew into his boot. John Hopkins improved from 7th in FP1 to 5th in FP2. Casey Stoner was 6th fastest today, dropping one place after first free practice.
Unlike Edwards, team-mate Valentino Rossi was unable to find right direction in FP2, and his best time from FP1 was 7th fastest of the day, showing that Italian has loot of work to do tomorrow. Toni Elias was 8th fastest today. Nicky Hayden was one of three non-improving riders, and his time from FP1 was enough for 9th overall time. Alex Barros completed top 10 riders today.
