Valentino Rossi today striked back in championship battle by making superior win on Sepang track. After taking pole position in QP2, Rossi continued today in same manner: after trailing Barros in 4 opening laps of the race, he finally got into first position and never lost it until the end of the race. His determination to win was obvious from the fact that 
Valentino Rossi today took pole position for Malaysian MotoGP, after posting new circuit record lap in middle of second qualifying session. Rossi also spent larger part of the session finding right tyres for tomorrow GP, and lapped consistently in 2:02, which is expected to be race pace tomorrow. 
Light tropical rain started in Sepang just before beginning of the qualifying practice 1, and made some parts of the Sepang track completely wet, while other were dry. This was factor that disabled riders to make good times at the beginning of the session, so main action started at the final stage of the 
MotoGP season has reached final part, with three races to go, and championship title chase continues with two main rivals: Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau. With three races remaining in MotoGP championship, Qatar GP brought unexpected development of the situation with Sete Gibernau returning to championship battle with great win, while Rossi fell out of the race. This caused championship lead of the Rossi to be reduced to 14 points, with 75 points remaining in game for three races.

First man to take pole position for Qatar MotoGP was Carlos Checa. As we used to see in MotoGP qualifying so far, real action began in last 20 minutes of the final qualifying session, when pole setter Carlos Checa grabbed first position, but he was briefly moved to second by his team-mate, Valentino Rossi. Checa managed to get back to the pole with two late fast laps and stayed there until the end of the session. 
For the first time in history of the MotoGP, this Saturday MotoGP will be held at the Losail track in Qatar. The 5.380m track, which is situated to the north of the capital Doha, was officially opened just two months ago. This 12 metre wide track is made in only 10 months, and it costed 58 million dollars.
