Sylvain Guintoli in action at Le MansIt will not be a race like the others for Alice Team rider Toni Elias, who in Barcelona, where he lives, he will have the support of thousands of fans that will push him to give his best in the seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship on the Montmelò circuit. After a non satisfying race last Sunday at Mugello, the Catalan rider will arrive at the home weekend of racing with the aggressiveness that has characterized him through his career. The other white and red rider, Sylvain Guintoli, wants to continue to show the step forward taken in last Sunday’s Grand Prix of Italy, where he concluded in eleventh position, his best result of the season so far. Last year on the Spanish circuit the French rider has concluded in fourteenth position, while his teammate, Toni Elias, hasn’t been so lucky in the last race he didn’t see the chequered flag due to a technical problem on his bike.

Toni Elias:
It has been three years that I can’t make it to finish a race here in Barcelona. In 2005 I was injured at the hand, in 2006 I slipped and in 2007 I finish my race after a few laps due to a technical problem at my bike. It’s time to make a change ! The Montmelò Grand Prix of Catalunya is my home race. I live just a few kilometers from here and I grew up on this circuit. It’s a very interesting track with high speed points, like the final straight, mixed to some really slow corners. It will be a really fun sport event for all the supporters who will follow it directly at the circuit. Personally I am not obtaining great results in this season, but I am working hard to solve our problems. I hope to be able to fight for better positions this weekend, to give strong emotions to the Spanish fans present at the circuit.

Sylvain Guintoli:
We are happy of the Mugello’s performance. I hope that this will be our starting point for the rest of the season. We all believe to do well here in Barcelona, it is a fun track where the power of our Ducati can surely help us. For the first time my wife and my new born baby, my second child Layla, should come to see my race, it would be nice to celebrate with them a good result. I will give my best as always. In addition I am really happy that after the race we will have two days of testing which will be really useful for the next two races.

Luis d’Antin:
Until now we haven’t conquered exciting results, on the contrary, we expected much more. Barcelona race, seen also the two days of testing on the following Monday and Tuesday, could be the right occasion to grow together with our riders. Sylvain has completed a good race on Sunday being really close to the top ten, while Elias probably had his worst weekend of the season. We count on our technicians’ great work to demonstrate the potential we have at our disposal in such an important race.
