2006-08-22  Repsol Honda wraps-up Brno test
Be first to comment this story

Nicky Hayden completes Brno test Nicky Hayden took advantage of changeable weather conditions today as the Repsol Honda Team wrapped up its programme of testing following Sunday’s Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. The rain that had been promised all weekend finally arrived at 10am today, delaying the start of the test. Nevertheless Hayden took advantage of the conditions to test some wet weather tyres for Michelin and try out the updated chassis for his evolution RC211V on a wet track.

The afternoon started dry and the 25-year-old American star, who holds a 25-point lead in the World Championship ahead of his team-mate Dani Pedrosa, was able to continue the work from yesterday. He put in 67 laps, the most of any rider today, completing a long run and honing the Honda’s settings in preparation for the last five races of this exciting MotoGP season.

The championship will now pause for two weekends before the climax to the series begins with three fly-away races on successive weekends. The first, the Malaysian Grand Prix, takes place at the Sepang circuit on September 10th.

It’s been a really positive couple of days. This morning we got some rain so we did a couple of runs to confirm that the things we learned yesterday were ok in the wet. And we also tested a few Michelin wet tyres, which felt pretty good too. This afternoon I did a long run, put in some consistent laps and everything went well which is a good sign because for these last five races we’ve got to be ready. I’d like to say thanks to my team because these guys have worked really hard and put in two long days after a long weekend – hopefully it’ll pay off when we get to Malaysia.
