Hayden celebrates MotoGP championship titleNicky Hayden took 2006 MotoGP championship title by taking third place in today's drama in Valencia. 'So, what happened to Rossi then?' - it is question that usually follows. Well, Rossi has choosen bad moment to make one of rare mistakes - he crashed in lap 4, rejoined race as 20th, but ended race in 13th place. Someone may leave this conversation happy, someone may be sad, by usually everyone forget to ask another logical question: Who won the race?

Answer is: this year's champion has won the race - but not MotoGP World Champion, we already know he was 3rd today. World Superbike Champion came for wildcard ride, started race from first row, took lead from the start of the race and never let it go. Ladies and Gentlemen, magnificent Troy Bayliss won today's race in his fantastic MotoGP comeback. Some of the people in Ducati camp must be scratching their heads now and asking themselves why did they let him go from Ducati Corse team in the first place? Well, they have a reason...

Loris Capirossi ended race in second place, completing success of Ducati Corse team. Ducati success is one thing, but being beaten by team-mate that just dropped by to replace your 'real' team-mate - well, that must be quite strange feeling for Capirossi. Anyway, second place was enought for Capirossi to grab third place in championship.

Nicky Hayden spent most of the race in comfortable 3rd place, in which he eventually finished it. Rossi did rest of the job for Hayden and American lift this year's MotoGP crown. It is worth mentioning that Pedrosa helped his team-mate by keeping other riders behind for a while.

Altough first three positions were secure during most of the race, real fight was for 4th place. Three Honda riders were involved in this race: Melandri, Pedrosa and Stoner. As so many times this year, Stoner crashed and left Melandri and Pedrosa fighting for 4th place. Pedrosa eventually won this battle and finished race in 4th place.

Fortuna Honda riders ended race together, with Malendri taking 5th and Elias 6th place. Shinya Nakano ended his last race in Kawasaki team in 7th place, in front of Kenny Roberts Jr. Colin Edward and Carlos Checa completed top 10 finishers. Garry McCoy once again took point for Ilmor SRT team, 7 laps behind race winner...
