2005-10-22 MotoGP: Gibernau leads all Honda front row in Turkey

Sete Gibernau today snatched pole position from his team-mate Melandri in qualifying session for Grand Prix of Turkey, which took place on brand new Istanbul circuit. Although Meladri has dominated most of the qualifying session, Gibernau took pole in very last lap, with Melandri making mistake while trying to get it back. Telefonica Movistar Honda riders were step in front of competitors through whole session, and they finished in same manner, about half second in front of fellow Honda rider Nicky Hayden who completed all-Honda front row.
Valentino Rossi continued to struggle through qualifying session, and spent mosto of it on race tyres, trying to find right setup for his Yamaha YZR-M1. Rossi did only last lap on qualifying Michelin tyres, which was enough for him to qualify as 4th fastest. In second row, Rossi is joined by fellow Yamaha riders Colin Edwards in 5th and excelent youngster Toni Elias in 6th, which is his best qualifying result this season. Interesting fact is that three Yamaha riders were covered by only 0.053 seconds.
In third row, Makoto Tamada finally managet to make semi-decent qualifying result, in front of another Honda rider, Alex Barros, still recovering from injuries sustained in Phillip Island. Thrid row was completed by Carlos Checa, who was best Bridgestone rider today in 9th place.
In fourth row, Shinya Nakano brought his Kawasaki in front of widcard Camel Honda rider Chris Vermeulen in 11th place. Vermeulen edged Max Biaggi who was once again unable to find right set-up for his Honda RC211V.
Olivier Jacque will start on Kawasaki from 13th place on the grid, in front of John Hopkins, who was unable to significantly improve after day one of free practice. Shinichi Ito, replacement for injuruied Loris Capirossi, will start from 15th place on the grid.
Ruben Xaus once again leads bottom of the pack in 16th place, in front of Roberto Rolfo, James Ellison and Franco Battaini.
