2007-11-04  Dani Pedrosa wins race and takes second in MotoGP championship

Dani Pedrosa wins in Valencia and takes second place in championshipDani Pedrosa has won last MotoGP race of 2007 season and secured second place in the championship, as another wave of bad luck splashed Valentino Rossi, who had to retire from the race due to engine failure in which he was in 14th place. Casey Stoner was not on his usual level today as he ended race in second place after initial lead. John Hopkins rode lonely race far behind leaders to complete last podium place and secure 4th place in the championship before leaving Suzuki team.

Casey Stoner led opening five laps of the race, but this time he was unable to run away from only one man - Dani Pedrosa. Pedrosa had slightly slower pace, but managed to stay close enough to Stoner before getting in front of him and staying there until the end of the 30 lap race. Nicky Hayden had great start and occupied 3rd place in first three laps, before loosing that place from John Hopkins. Hopkins stayed in third place until the end of the race, without having to worry about other riders behind.

Most exciting race was for 4th place, as Nicky Hayden and Marco Melandri had small war for this place, before Michelins of Nicky Hayden have gone in last quarter of the race and he started loosing places, eventually finishing in 8th place. Marco Melandri ended race in 4th place. Loris Capirossi spent most of the race in 6th place, advancing one place as Hayden came into tyre problems.

Chris Vermeulen made his way from 12th place at the end of lap one to 6th at the end of the race. Alex Barros ended his last MotoGP race in 7th, in front of Hayden in 8th. Randy de Puniet was unable to utilize good starting position in the race, as he finished in 9th in his last race for Kawasaki. Sylvain Guintoli completed top 10 finishers in Valencia.

MotoGP season 2007 is now finished, with new champion, but also with new second placed rider in championship - Dani Pedrosa. Valentino Rossi once again runned out of luck in the season finale, on same place where he lost championship last year. However, preparations for next season are about to start in two days, and we hope to see more equal championship and more close racing in 2008 than we saw this year.
