Be first to comment this story

Dani Pedrosa on pole in ValenciaQualifying for last MotoGP race of the 2007 season brought 5th pole position to Dani Pedrosa, together with chance to grab second position in championship as Valentino Rossi had nasty crash during qualifying and has broken three bones in his right hand. Casey Stoner took second position on the grid, in front of Nicky Hayden, who managed to utilize qualifying tyre despite having poor race-pace.

Randy de Puniet was as usually first on qualifiers, settling in 4th at the end of the session. Sylvain Guintoli was in center of attention today, as he wrestled his Dunlop shoed Yamaha to 5th place on the grid, topping timesheets in few occasions. Makoto Tamada sneaked behind his team-mate to 6th place, completing success for the Tech 3 team and Dunlop.

John Hopkins qualified in 7th, in front of angry Loris Capirossi, who lost lot of time in his fast lap as he runned into Alex Barros relaxing on the racing line. Carlos Checa managed to grab 9th position on the grid after missing FP3 due to still unexplained health problems. Marco Melandri, despite having really good race-pace, had to settle in 10th.

After initial medical examinations, we have information that Valentino Rossi has three suspected hand fractures: fifth metacarpal (little finger), pyramidal and ulnar styloid (wrist). Depending on overnight development, Rossi may try to race tomorrow from 17th place on the grid, trying to grab at least one point necessary to wrap-up second place in championship.
