Dani Pedros takes pole for Spanish Grand Prix

Dani Pedrosa took pole position in front of Spanish fans, edging another domestic rider, Jorge Lorenzo. Casey Stoner completed front row in Jerez, while Valentino Rossi took 'only' fourth position on the grid, still struggling with injured shoulder. Nicky Hayden continued good form by setting 5th time, just 0.002 seconds.

Another good qualifying result came from Randy de Puniet, who was just 0.031 seconds behind Hayden. American duo of Colin Edwards and Ben Spies placed their sattelite Yamahas to 7th and 8th position. Andrea Dovizioso was 9th fastest, while Marco Melandri completed top 10 qualifiers in Jerez.
