2007-06-10 Casey Stoner wins in Catalunya

 Casey Stoner managed today once more to beat Valentino Rossi in Catalunya, finishing race 0.069 in front of his title rival. Fighting duo has shown some real, wheel to wheel, on the edge racing to around 110.000 Spanish fans - specially in last quarter of the race, which saw two riders exchanging in the lead from corner to corner. Home hero Dani Pedrosa was in touch with leading duo through the race, ready to exploit any mistake from them, but mistake newer came, and he finished race in 3rd place, 0.390 seconds behind Stoner.
John Hopkins once again brought his Rizla Suzuki to respectable 4th place. In first half of the race, he was able to stay with leading trio, but soon their pace became too much for him, and he had to settle in secure 4th. Injured Randy de Puniet crossed line in fantastic 5th place, which is his best MotoGP result, showing his own potential and potential of Kawasaki. Loris Capirossi made his way from 17th on the grid to 6th place, edging Chris Vermeulen for this position. Vermeulen had to settle in 7th, in front of Brazilian Barros, who was not able to repeat his podium form from last race.
Marco Melandri ended race in weak 9th place, in front of Colin Edwards, who once again failed to ride his Yamaha as he promised at the start of the season. Another disappointment came for reigning world champion, Nicky Hayden, who ended race in forgettable 11th place. Only rider that did not finished race today was Toni Elias, who had engine failure while fighting for 5th place in lap 10.
Casey Stoner extended his championship lead to Valentino Rossi to 14 points, once again showing his great talent, maturity and ability to control the race. He also proved that his results are not just due to power of Ducati Desmosedici, as he made many overtaking moves in corners, which are usually stronger point of Valentino Rossi. All this promises great MotoGP season, and we hope to see many great races like this in the rest of the season...
