Casey Stoner had no mercy for competitors in Brno today, riding race on his own level, without anyone else being able to challenge for victory. Stoner finished race almost 8 seconds in front of John Hopkins, who was only rider able to follow Stoner for first few laps. Anyway, second place for John Hopkins was best MotoGP career result, and only second podium appearance. Nicky Hayden continued his late season comeback by taking final podium position, about 5 second behind Hopkins.
Dani Pedrosa ended race in 4th place, 2 seconds behing team-mate. From the lap one, first 4 riders were mostly in order previously described, but more exciting fight was for 5th place, which eventually gone to charging from the back Vermeulen. Loris Capirossi had his variations through the race, eventually settling in 6th place. Valentino Rossi was once again in tyre troubles, finishing race in distant 7th place, after bad start and race-long struggle.
Randy de Puniet finished race in 8th, just behind Rossi, in last few laps looking like he is able to get in front of Italian. Alex Barros charged from the back of the grid to 9th, with Carlos Checa completing top 10 race finishers.
From what we saw today, Valentino Rossi or anyone else will need a miracle to take 2007 MotoGP championship from Stoner, who gets stronger and more confident from race to race. Championship difference between Stoner and Rossi is 60 points with 6 races remaining, with Rossi now threatened for second place by Dani Pedrosa, who is now 18 points behind. At least we will have something exciting to watch for the rest of the season...
