Casey Stoner got pole position at Mugello today, riding his Ducati Desmosedici in wet conditions. Pole position set by Stoner was over a second quicker than time set by second rider on the grid, Chris Vermeulen, who once again proved his talent for riding on the wet track. Valentino Rossi, who won 5 times in a row in Mugello, qualified as 3rd, also being only Michelin rider in top 7 qualifiers.
Olivier Jacque made great return to MotoGP grid by Qualifying 4th on his Kawasaki, in front of home favourite, Loris Capirossi. Another Italian rider, Marco Melandri, completed second row.
Randy de Puniet will be heading third row, in front of second best Michelin qualifier, Dani Pedrosa, who was unable repeat results he has shown in dry conditions in third free practice. John Hopkins qualified at the end of row 3, in 9th place, with Alex Barros completing top 10 qualifiers in Mugello.
Only two Michelin riders in top 10 qualifiers today once again confirmed strength of the Bridgestone, with Michelin seeming once again struggling to provide it's riders with race winning tyres.
