Casey Stoner took today another start to finish victory, this time in not so dominant fashion, but strong enough that he did not have to worry about his competitors. This was 10th victory in 2007 for Stoner, who is now chasing 11 victory record held by Valentino Rossi. Marco Melandri rode brilliant race, at some points looking like he was able to challenge Stoner for the victory, but had to settle for second place after few mistakes and front end looses. Dani Pedrosa was the man who threatened Stoner in first part of the race, before loosing that position and finishing race in 3rd place.
Randy de Puniet was another rider who had strong race from start to the end. It seems that French rider has learned how to stay on two wheels from start to finish, and adding that to the fact that he is really fast rider, it seems that we have new frontrunner in the championship!
Valentino Rossi managed to get maximum from his machine and tyres that seemed like complete disaster during practices this weekend. At the start, Rossi dropped to 11th place, but soon he has found his rhythm and found his way to 5th place, where he eventully ended the race. Rossi now has 24 point advantage over Pedrosa in championship, and only quitting race in Valencia and Pedrosa winning may take second place in the championship from Rossi.
Toni Elias ended race in 6th place, after fighting with Hayden in one stage, which ended with Hayden braking too late and getting out of the track. Hayden managed to get back to the track and finish in 9th.
Today we also saw race-long battle between Suzuki team-mates Vermeulen and Hopkins. Vermeulen managed to win in direct battle in dry conditions, closing gap to Hopkins in championship to only 4 points. With Melandri having just one more point than Hopkins, 4th place in championship is still far from solved. Colin Edwards completed top 10 finishers in Malaysia.
Great result came from Suzuki wild-card rider, Nobuatsu Aoki, who brought 2008 prototype of Suzuki GSV-R to finish line in 13th place. Despite slippery track, all 20 riders have completed the race.
