Stoner makes another dominant appearance in Catalunya

Casey Stoner once again swiped the field in a dominant race victory, which saw him controlling the race from the moment he got in front of Jorge Lorenzo to the chequered flag. Lorenzo was unable to match the pace of charging Stoner and had to settle in second place, still staying at the top spot in championship standings with gap reduced to only 7 points to Stoner. Same as his team-mate Lorenzo, American Ben Spies rode race without much of a challenges, bringing his M1 to the final podium position in Catalunya.

Pretty much the same was from 3th to 6th place - Andrea Dovizioso led the pack throughout the race once he got in front of Rossi, and although it seemed at some points that Rossi can challenge for 4th place, there was simply no speed in Rossi's Ducati and he again had to settle in 5th place. Simoncelli had terrible start from pole position which costed him any chance of podium finish, so after making-up several places lost after start he stuck in 6th place behind Rossi.

Call Crutchlow managed to catch, overtake and leave Hayden behind, getting another decent result, while American had to stay in 8th place on slightly improved Ducati. Loris Capirossi won only exciting battle that we saw in Catalunya, ending race in 9th place, while rookie Karel Abraham completed top 10 finishers. Only two riders that did not finished the race were Randy De Puniet and Hiroshi Aoyama after Aoyama crashed and brought De Puniet with him to gravel.

Few rain drops that threatened to turn the race upside-down were most exciting part of the race, but fortunately for (most of the) riders race was dry till the end. Casey Stoner once again demonstrated form that makes him out of a league for the rest of the field, and it seems at this point that he can easily repeat his great result from 2007.
