Valentino Rossi set fastest time of the day in second free practice for this weekend's Gauloises Grand Prix Ceske Republiky. Rossi set fastest time of 1:57.871, which is just three tenths of a second slower than pole position time set by Sete Gibernau. Surprise of the day came from Kawasaki, as Randy De Puniet set second fastest time of the day, just 0.157 seconds slower than time set by Valentino Rossi. Recovering Loris Capirossi was third fastest today, more than half second behind Rossi.
Colin Edwards managed to significantly improve his time from FP1 to set 4th fastest time, in front of fastest Honda of Kenny Robert Jr. in 5th place. Shinya Nakano was 6th fastest rider today, in front of once again great Carlos Checa in 7th place. Rookie Dani Pedrosa set only 8th fastest time, in front of Marco Melandri. Championship leader, Nicky Hayden, was unable to improve his time from FP1 and ended day in 10th place.
